Living with Covid-19 - I

The Caucasian Gate
28/03/2020
Covid-19 has affected everyone and many worse than others. I have been fortunate to date that no-one that I know has yet been seriously ill and that my home - where I am now locked down - is airy and has natural light. The spaces where I normally make my art and buy my materials are closed, however, and my main inspiration - travel - has been made impossible. Like every artist I know, I have a backlog of projects - updating this website, cataloguing my work, reading up on processes and of course contacting other artists whom I have lost touch with - and, perhaps most time consuming of all, I have a backlog of thousands of photographs and three longer pieces of writing. The internet's possibilities have already connected me to friends from the other side of the world and those around the corner, who might just as well be, and if I do start producing work that requires paint, ink. or medium, and even paper, the internet will help me acquire it.

I realise, looking over at my old work, that some of it seems very appropriate for the current crisis - this painting, "Caucasian Gate" could be renamed "Lock-down Blues No 1"
