Inspired by travels in Western China's Xinjiang Province. In a narrow lane in Yarkand, people (often of the Uighur minority) had their shops and restaurants. This man was selling various types of plastic film and I was attracted to the geometry of the rolls of material. The colours were of course nothing like those I chose for the painting.
